ちょっと遅れて次男の１歳の日本式セレモニーをしました。

満一歳の誕生日を祝う伝統行事で、人間の一生と餅の一升とをなぞらえて

一生（一升）食べるのに困らないように

一生（一升）健康に育つように

一生（一升）丸く円満に

などといった願いをこめて祝うことです。

Issho Mochi, a Japanese traditional ceremony, is held in celebration of the first birthday of children. Parents makes their one-year-old son or daughter carry a total of 1.8kg of rice cake on his or her back in hope that he or she will want for no food and live to a great age.

Issho means 1.8kg of rice cake, also has a meaning of whole life.

九州では、餅を大地にたとえ、草鞋を履かせ、
The detail of the ceremony differs among areas,

「大地にしっかり足をつけ歩んで行けるように」

と願いを込めて、子供を一生餅の上に立たせる。
Kyusyu areas include Ojika island, children stand on the rice cake, children wear straw sandals.

後ろのバアーバアーと同じ顔ですが

泣きませんでした。

長男は神戸で３年前に

昔から伝わる品物を赤ちゃんが最初に取るもので、
That's also traditional ceremony which one children first chose from a few things.

将来の職業や才能を占う行事です。
It's ceremony for reading children's future career 

品物はそろばん、お金、ペンなど地域や家庭によって用意する物はさまざまみたいですね。
